A care recruitment event held in Penzance on Saturday (28 January) has been heralded as a success by care providers and attendees.
The event was a partnership between Proud to Care Cornwall, Indeed and Cornwall Partners in Care, and was attended by care providers in west Cornwall.
Cornwall Partners in Care Executive Officer Richard Monk said:
‘’Thank you to everyone involved in holding this event. It is clear that this sort of event can be very useful as a way of linking employers up with potential employees. I am aware that many conditional offers were to people that were completely new to care or returning from prolonged absence and these are exactly the people that events like this need to target.’’
Cornwall Council cabinet member for adult social care and health Cllr Andy Virr said:
“I’ve had some really good feedback from everyone who attended this event. The care providers said they were very impressed with the type of people who attended, all seemingly well-suited to working in the care sector. Some attendees said that they left the event with a completely new perspective on what it was like to work in care. Congratulations to everyone who was offered a role.”
Alison Bulman, Strategic Director of Care and Wellbeing in Cornwall Council, said:
“The day was a huge success. It was great to meet so many of our providers and people who are interested in working in care. A number of people were offered a job on the day and I’d like to wish good luck to everyone else who has an interview following this event.
“I would also like to say a special thank you to our ‘Proud to care Cornwall’ team for their hard work and commitment in making this happen and such a success. I would also like to thank our partners Indeed and the social care providers who attended. Thank you also to Rewind Cornwall for the coverage they gave of the event.”
Bluebird Care Mid & West Cornwall said:
‘’It was such a great event. Thank you for inviting us to be a part of it. We’ve got two 2 new recruits and lots of people to interview next week!’’
Amongst those successful in securing a role was Icelyn who was over the moon when she was accepted for a role with Cornwallis Care.
Zannah was also successful. She used to be a carer for her mum before she sadly passed away but felt that her skills and experience would be ideal for caring work.
More events are planned in the coming months. There are currently over 160 jobs currently advertised the Proud To Care Cornwall website.
