People in the St Austell area are invited to attend a care sector hiring event next week which could lead them to a new job role.
The next Proud to Care Cornwall hiring event takes place at White River Community Centre in St Austell on Tuesday 28 March from midday until 7pm. You can book an appointment or just show up on the day.
Jackie attended a similar event in Penzance in January and is now starting her new role. She said:
“I’d like to thank Proud to Care for having their event where I was lucky enough to meet Emma from Bluebird Care. I’m really excited to get going. I’m training this week, next week I hope I’ll be out there, on the front line!”
Jackie is one of many others who have had recent success, with other people attending events in Pool and in Liskeard. Some people opted to shadow some workers out on their visits to get a clearer picture of what is involved. They have since gone on to be employed in a role.
Cornwall Council cabinet member for adult social care and health, Cllr Andy Virr said:
“Following the success of other recent events, people in the St Austell area are now able to meet employers, find out more about job role vacancies and also interview for roles.
“Jackie’s story is really great to hear, and she is one of many others who have recently found success. I’m really pleased that people are going along to these events, even if you just make some initial enquiries about what working in care is about it could be that one step closer to getting the role that changes your life.”
To find out more about the event and book an appointment you can visit the Proud to Care Cornwall website.
