Proud to Care hiring event coming to Liskeard

People living in the Liskeard area and looking for work are encouraged to go along to an event where they could come away with a job offer in a care role.

The Proud to Care Cornwall hiring event is taking place on Thursday 16 March, 12 noon – 7pm at Eliot House Hotel, Liskeard.

Man in a wheel chair looks at the camera with a care worker sat next to him.

This follows on from the success of two previous sessions in Penzance and Pool where many people attended, met care providers, learned more about working in care and in some cases, came away with a job.

Cllr Andy Virr, Cornwall Council cabinet member for adult social care and health said:

“The event held earlier this week in Pool had a real buzz about it. Many walked away with job offers and others arranged to go and shadow care workers to make sure it’s the right job for them. It can be a really useful way of understanding what the job is like.

“Even if you’re not quite sure, why not just go and have a chat and meet some providers who can tell you more about what it’s like to work in care? It might be the best decision you ever make.”

Calton House, a homecare health service based in Camborne attended the event in Pool on 7 March, along with people they support. They said:

“This event provided a fantastic opportunity for candidates to meet the teams on the ground, meet the people we support and hear from them the lived experiences of the vital work we deliver.

“We also gave those we support the opportunity to participate in interviews and engage in wider conversations. We are happy to report we offered – 3 shadow shifts, have 2 candidates coming to visit our hub this week and gave out 9 application packs.”

You can find out more and register for the event on the Proud to Care Cornwall website.Proud to Care Cornwall website

There are more events being planned, with the next one taking place at White River Community Centre, St Austell on Tuesday 28 March 12 - 7pm.
