Visitors to Cornwall’s biggest and free electric vehicle event this May half-term will have the chance to test drive a wide range of the latest model.
E-motion: Drive Electric Cornwall takes place at Stithians Showground on Saturday, May 27, from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
Admission is free. To book a test drive register on the e-motion website.
This will be the second E-motion following last October’s event which featured more than 30 electric vehicle brands for participants to test drive.
It is aimed at anyone thinking about making the switch to driving electric to get all the information they need in one place.
From choosing, buying, driving and charging an electric vehicle to costs and savings, attendees can hear from experts and residents who have already made the switch.
There will also be a Kids’ Zone featuring entertainment and educational activities.
The event is part of the council’s Drive EV2 Project funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
Drive EV2 - new electric vehicle charge points
The programme is bringing 150 new electric vehicle charge points (75 charging units) to Cornwall Council-run carparks this summer, increasing the total number of units across Cornwall to more than 400.
SWARCO Smart Charging has been contracted to supply, install, operate and maintain the charge points.
Cllr Connor Donnithorne, Cornwall’s portfolio holder for transport, said:
“E-motion is a one-stop-shop full of useful information, tips and guidance for anyone thinking about switching to driving an electric vehicle.
“With more electric vehicles on our roads and our EV charging infrastructure expanding across Cornwall, this free, family event is the ideal way to find out more about how you can make the switch to driving greener.”

“If you’re wondering about the benefits of EVs come to our next E-motion show to learn more about driving with lower running costs and a smaller carbon footprint. You’ll be contributing significantly to cleaner air in our communities and helping Cornwall reach net zero.”
