If you are struggling to pay your council tax and would like us to consider a more affordable payment plan, you will need to complete our Standard Financial Statement.
At the end of the statement, you will be able to view your total income and expenditure. You will also be able to make an offer of how much you can afford to pay towards your council tax debt. We can only agree to a payment plan when you have received a summons to court. Therefore it’s really important that you contact us straight away.
Before you start
Before you begin you will need to provide details of your monthly income, such as:
- wages
- benefits
- child benefits
- etc
You must also declare any contributions to household expenses made by all adults living with you, for example:
- partners
- children
- parents
- lodgers
It will be useful to also have the following information to hand before you start completing the form:
- Your council tax reference number
- Employment details and payroll number
- Benefits entitlement
- National insurance number
- Pension details
We’ll also need to know how much you spend on household bills, from rent and mortgage payments to food, travel and other spends, loans or savings.
What happens next?
We’ll review your offer of payment and get in touch with you once we have made a decision, usually within 14 days.
