Community Resilience

At the very beginning of an emergency, communities may have to cope on their own until help arrives. Community emergency planning and resilience is about using local people, resources and knowledge during an emergency. This could be before, during or after the emergency services arrive. It involves looking and planning for things that could happen during an emergency so communities can help themselves.

Here is a short video about Community Emergency Plans explaining what they and why they are important.

The Cornwall Community Resilience Network helps communities to be prepared to respond to an emergency.

Find out how to set up a group or write a community emergency plan using the Community Emergency Plan Toolkit.

Find out what your community is doing to become better prepared for emergencies.  Or take a look at what other communities are doing to get ideas about what you could do in your area by contacting your local Community Link OfficerParish Council.

Any community in Cornwall taking steps to become better prepared for emergencies can join the Cornwall Community Resilience Network.
