You will have a mentor, who is an experienced foster carer who will also support and guide you through your first year. You will also have access to our East and West Cornwall teams of dedicated social workers.
Our Central Support Team operates an out of hours service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The team includes:
- health specialists
- youth workers
- educational psychology professionals
This means that there is always a member of the Fostering Team for you to talk to, and that we can get help to you at any time should it be needed.
We run a continuous training programme throughout the year. Some of the training is mandatory and some of it is not. The training ranges from core skills that are needed to be a foster carer to more specialist training. Specialist training may benefit carers in order to meet the needs of a specific child in their care.
There are also regular support groups run by, and for, foster carers.
