Everyday thousands of people in Cornwall provide support to those who may have physical and / or mental health related needs. By people we mean children, young people and adults. This may be for a:
- family member
- parent
- partner or friend
It is not possible to overstate the important role that informal carers play in supporting people to live their daily lives.
Cornwall Council have recently tendered for the provision of an all age Carers service .
This service is Cornwall wide and will use a wide range of approaches including, but not limited to, digital solutions and face to face. It is anticipated that people may access more than one part of the service. Therefore, the total number of all carers supported by the service on an annual basis is expected to be at least 6,500. The aspiration over the time of the contract is to continuously support an increased number of adult carers and all Young Carers.

The Contract for the Provision of Services for Young People aged 11-19 and up to 25 for those with SEND was awarded to Action for Children.
Action for Children, in partnership with The Dreadnought Centre and Silver Cloud, deliver our Young People’s Support Service Kernow Connect. The service provides a range of universal, targeted and specialist services to young people aged 11-19; and up to 25 for those with SEND.

Cornwall Council awarded Carefree the Contract for the Provision of In Care and Leaving Care Services.
Cornwall Council has statutory duties in relation to Children in Care (CiC) and Care Leavers. This includes children and young people having access to participation and engagement opportunities, that are high quality and affordable.
There are generally 440 children and young people in care in Cornwall; approximately 203 defined as Care Leavers at any time. The purpose of this service will be to provide a range of personal, social development opportunities for both Children in Care and Care Leavers in Cornwall.

Cornwall Council awarded Barnardo’s Services Limited the Contract for the Provision of Advocacy Services.
Cornwall Council has a specific duty to provide Advocacy and Independent Visitor Services for young people aged 6-18 years. And, up to age 25 years if the young person has an Education Health and Care Plan.
This service provides a high quality and effective Advocacy and Independent Visitor’s support. Which is a statutory duty under the Children’s Act 1989 and The Adoption and Children’s Act 2002.
