Have you or someone else been affected by suicide?
Being bereaved by suicide can have an impact on loved ones left behind.
In Cornwall we have a dedicated service which can support friends and family of someone who has died by suicide. The Outlook South West Suicide Bereavement Service provides support from trained professionals who have specialist skills. If you, or someone you know, would like to access this free service you can call 01208 871905. Or referrals can be made by your GP/health professional.
The Help at Hand book is full of helpful tips and information for anyone who needs support after someone has died by suicide.
Penhaligons Friends are a charity which support children, young people, parents and carers who have been bereaved.
At work
If you have been affected by the suicide of a work colleague, our suicide in the workplace pack is available for you to download. We hope that you'll never need it, but we want to make sure you're equipped if you do.
It provides useful information for when the crisis happens, helps to spot signs of post traumatic stress, and secondary trauma. This could happen in colleagues in the weeks that follow. It's important to identify any staff who might be struggling and to let everyone know that it's OK to admit they are struggling
Mental Health Safety Plans
Mental Health Safety Plans can support those bereaved by suicide with their own mental health. Please have a look at our Mental Health Safety Plan page for more support.
