Background
Previously, targeted funding from NHS England was made available to NHS Kernow and Public Health through the suicide prevention 3 year transformation programme. This is part of the commitment set out in the NHS Long Term Plan (2019) to reduce suicide rates and self-harm and support local work on suicide prevention.
Round 1 of the Suicide Prevention Innovation Fund for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly was launched in July 2020. Community-based organisations were invited to bid for up to £10,000 each, to support projects designed to prevent suicide and reduce self harm. 12 projects were supported for a year to creatively approach suicide prevention in the county.
Round 2 of the funding was launched in January 2022. 13 projects were awarded funding of up to £25,000. This funding was to complete a 12 month project for innovative self-harm and suicide prevention projects in community settings.
