Public health campaigns

A wide range of public health campaigns are run each year. This is to increase awareness and understanding, and support action around key priorities. These include:

  • helping people to stop smoking
  • increasing physical activity levels
  • improving mental health and
  • reducing harmful levels of drinking

Most local campaigns are run by our Healthy Cornwall service. They are out working in our local communities every day. You can find out more about what Healthy Cornwall is doing in your area. They can provide free, friendly advice on what opportunities are available.

Public Health Cornwall also develop specific campaigns in response to identified local health and wellbeing priorities. Please use the links below to find materials produced by the team:

Stay Safe this Summer

Cornwall is a lovely place to be at any time of year, but especially during the summer. Many of us enjoy getting outside in the warmer weather when the sun is shining, but it’s worth remembering that sunny spells can pose health risks for some people.

Orange Button Community Scheme

People struggling with mental ill health, having thoughts of suicide or worried about a friend or family member, can now "push the button" when they see someone displaying a distinctive orange badge and ask them for information and support.

Winter Wellbeing

In Cornwall fuel poverty affects over 11.5% of all households (29,123 homes). On the Isles of Scilly it is 11.7% (130 homes) - (BEIS Fuel Poverty statistics 2019).

Warm and Well Cornwall

Are you or any of your friends, family or neighbours living in a cold or damp home or struggling to stay warm in your home?

Don't flush your life away

Are you struggling with stress, anxiety, depression or thoughts of suicide?

You're not on your own, make sure you talk to someone and tell them how you feel.

How are you really feeling?

Just asking someone how they are really feeling could save a life.

Phone a friend campaign

We are challenging everyone to pick up the phone to help reduce isolation and loneliness.

Have your FREE NHS Health Check and you will be better prepared for the future and be able to take steps to maintain or improve your health.
