What is the Sanctuary Scheme

with a way to stay safe in their home.
The Sanctuary Scheme does this by improving home security.
Why do we need this scheme?
You should not have to stop living in your home if we can make it safe for you there.
Who are partners in the scheme?
The Sanctuary scheme is a partnership between:
- Cornwall Council
- Devon and Cornwall Police
- Fire and Rescue Service
- The major registered social landlords.
What security measures can I have?
We tailor the measures to fit individual needs. They may include all or some of the following:
- Extra locks and bolts
- Stronger doors
- Spy holes or chains for doors
- Better security lighting
- Police portable alarm
- A fortified safe room to go and wait for help from the police
- A Fire Safety survey
- A police officer will visit and recommend safety measures.
Who can get help?
You must be:
- Living in Cornwall
- Assessed as being at very high risk by a Police Domestic Violence Officer
- Not living with the perpetrator
- Not already accepted as homeless by Cornwall Council.
