One of the Council's highest priorities is affordable housing.
Cornwall Council plays a considerable role in delivering affordable housing. This includes proactive investment and direct delivery programmes.
Planning Documents are designed to be a practical guide. They explain in more detail the options available for
- landowners
- developers
- and planning applicants
The document also include the arrangements for providing affordable housing in partnership with Registered Social Landlords, sometimes referred to as Housing Associations.
Cornwall Local Plan
The Cornwall Local Plan was formally adopted on 22 November 2016. It provides a positive and flexible overarching planning policy framework for housing in Cornwall. This covers the period up to 2030.
Housing Supplementary Planning document
The Housing Supplementary Planning document (SPD) was adopted in February 2020. It provides additional guidance on how the policies in the Local Plan will be implemented. The SPD does not set new planning policy. The document provides guidance on the development of new homes including
- affordable housing
- and specialist housing for the elderly or disabled.
