During ordinary maternity or adoption leave, you will:
- continue to pay any additional voluntary contributions (AVCs) on the pay you receive. (Unless you elect to stop paying AVCs)
You must continue to pay any additional contributions (APCs or ARCs). Your contributions are based on the pay you would have received had you not been on leave.
If you elect to stop paying APCs or ARCs you will be credited with the extra pension you have paid for. You can recommence APCs at a later date by taking out a new contract.
If you do not receive any pay during your ordinary maternity or adoption leave, you will be given the option to repay the AVCs on your return to work.
Additional contributions during additional maternity or adoption leave
During additional maternity or adoption leave, you will:
