The site is based on current scheme rules that apply and covers:

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service and Isles of Scilly Fire and Rescue Service has:

  • established a joint Local Pension Board (LPB)

Role of the Local Pension Board

The role of this is to;

  • Assist Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Fire and Rescue Services as Scheme Managers –
    • to secure compliance. This includes the governance and administration of the Firefighters' Pensions Scheme (FPS)
    • to secure compliance with requirements imposed the Pensions Regulator
    • in such other matters as the FPS regulations may specify.
  • Secure the effective and efficient governance and administration of the FPS
  • Provide the Scheme Manager with information as it requires. Ensuring that any member of the LPB or an appointed person does not have a conflict of interest

The Board carries out an oversight function. This ensures that such decisions are compliant with regulations, guidance and internal policies.

The Board is made up of equal number of:

  • employer representatives

  • employee representatives
