Cornwall Council has been working with the Falmouth Place Shaping Board to develop a masterplan. The masterplan looks at key priority sites in the town centre. It aims to support opportunities and strengthen the town centre.
The key priorities are:
- manage vehicular movements in the main street area
- support a pedestrian and cycle priority area that would help increase footfall
- improve the public realm within the town centre
- improve the quality of the Prince of Wales Pier
- focus on the significant opportunity to create a waterfront location at the heart of the town centre at Church Street
- support opportunities for social and innovative new business
- support the maritime sector, and provide access points to the water
- strengthen Falmouth’s busy events season throughout the year
- provide multifunctional outdoor space
The primary goal of this work is to strengthen and futureproof the town centre. To ensure that the town centre remains an attractive and vibrant place. It maintains a strong economy, is resilient and can provide for the future needs of its residents and visitors.
