Langarth Community Involvement

We held more community events in early March 2020 where we invited residents to come and have their say. These events were held in and around the location of the new Langarth Garden Village.

Cornwall Council representatives and members of the master planning team were on hand at each event to answer questions.

If you weren't able make it to one of the events, here are links to the latest information boards.

Local people have already been sharing their initial ideas, aspirations and concerns for the site. These have been shared with members of the masterplanning team at drop in sessions. Sessions were held at:

  • Threemilestone
  • Highertown
  • Chacewater
  • St Agnes
  • Shortlanesend
The feedback from these public engagement events and the views of key stakeholders has been used to shape the latest thinking for the site

Once analysed, findings from questionnaires will be published here.

We want the masterplanning of Langarth Garden Village to be truly community led.  These events are an opportunity for local people to come and talk to the masterplanning team. (Local people are those living in the villages in and around the proposed Garden Village site.) We want to hear your ideas, aspirations and concerns and for you to ask any questions you may have.

This is the start of a two way process which will bring the local community into the centre of the place-making process.

Our aim is to create a vibrant and distinctive new community at Langarth. This means walkable neighbourhoods, connected by sustainable transport. Generous and high-quality green spaces, with access to shops, facilities and meeting places.

We are working with partners to ensure that the scheme connects with existing settlements. These include:

  • Threemilestone
  • Gloweth
  • Shortlanesend
  • Chacewater
  • St Agnes and Truro
  • Royal Truro Hospital Treliske
  • Truro and Penwith College
We also want to connect with existing and planned retail developments in the rest of Truro.

There will also be new schools, with play and leisure facilities and a new community centre.

We are aware of the impact of new developments on health infrastructure. We will make sure that investment in new health facilities takes place at the start of the development when needed.

The Truro primary care practices are looking at options for increasing provision. These include a new medical centre on the site. They are also considering alternative methods for delivering primary and community based services.

To reduce the impact of the development on the acute hospital and emergency services, we are working with:

  • NHS Kernow
  • Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust
We want to involve as many people as possible in the development of Langarth Garden Village.

We will be holding:

  • workshops
  • presentations
  • briefings for community groups, organisations, schools and colleges
These activities will help us understand what the wider community want. They will also help connect the new community with those already in existence. This will deliver positive spins offs all round.

You can now see the results of the Langarth Survey. This includes ideas and comments from people who live locally.
