During the first meetings, members of the stakeholder panel were asked for their 'three wishes' for Langarth Garden Village.
These included:
- Affordable quality homes (which are affordable to live in as well buy). They must be affordable for local residents. Well insulated with low energy costs. They must be adaptable to meet the changing needs of residents.
- Parking: adequate parking provision for every household with electric charging points. There should also be secure parking spaces for parking work vehicles.
- Open spaces. A healthy environment for all ages. Shared open spaces. Well equipped play areas. Cycle ways and walks for dog walkers out to the surrounding countryside. The spaces should be well maintained
- Landscape – the scheme needs to take account of the topography of the land
- The A390. Make other forms of travel more attractive than the car. Create facilities to walk to.
- Drainage and flooding . Reduce the impact on the River Kenwyn. Manage surface water and foul drainage
- Distinctive settlements within the landscape . Set development within the rural community. Prevent the city drifting into the rural community. Improve biodiversity within neighbourhoods and green spaces.
- Build communities. Including shops, health facilities, village halls, village greens, village centres with open spaces, community centres within walking distances, places for growing food, places to sit and to enable an outdoor lifestyle.
- Integrated transport. Get people out of their cars. Go cycling and walking. Use park and ride to create a connected hub with electric car sharing club. Provide electric bikes with every home with bike storage. Food and cycleways in all directions.
- Connected communities. Places where people interact . Easy access to surrounding areas, quiet, green spaces. Hedges and trees which promote wildlife. Nature for people to enjoy
- Support for people working from home. Hubs and community areas where they can work together .
- Climate change. Respond to the climate emergency.
- Schools must complement each other. Make the most of the natural setting and be sustainable. Provide the best possible facilities for happy creative pupils. Locate near community rooms with pre-school/early school.
- Meet the needs of Threemilestone and existing residents. Connect with the existing community – not leave it behind.
