New waste service for flats and HMOs
If your home shares bins or a bin store with neighbouring properties – you live in a flat or a house in multiple occupation (HMO) – then some details of the rollout and the new collection service may be different for you.
Your new caddy
When the rollout programme reaches your area, we’ll give you a 7 litre silver kitchen caddy for separating food waste from your rubbish and a starter pack of caddy liners. Check your Get Set and Go instruction leaflet for more detail on using your new food waste recycling service.
Your shared bins
We’re reviewing all the shared bin arrangements at flats and HMOs in Cornwall and will make sure everything is ready by the time your new service starts.
We’ll provide a new shared outdoor collection bin for your food waste that will be clearly labelled.
This may include providing new shared bins for your rubbish and recycling, and they may be different to the bins we’re giving to individual homes.
If you have any issues with your shared bins or bin store area, please speak to your site manager.
What these changes will mean for you
- We may need to change your collection day, but we’ll let you know directly if this is the case
- We’ll collect your food waste from you weekly, and your recycling and rubbish fortnightly
- Look out for more details in the Get Set and Go instruction leaflet
- Once the new service starts you’ll need to start separating your food waste from your rubbish ready to put out every week for us to collect
If you’re not already, you’ll need to recycle your cardboard, glass, plastics, cans, paper and textiles.
