More and more people in Cornwall are recycling
- cardboard
- paper
- plastic
- tin packaging
- glass bottles and jars
- textiles
If you're recycling, well done. Getting started can be the hardest part.
Now's a good time to start recycling more, though.
You'll need to recycle everything you can once we introduce the new food waste, recycling and rubbish collections in our area.
This is because rubbish collections will be limited to 180 litres fortnightly, not unlimited weekly as they are at the moment.
Easy tips to help you recycle more
- check what goes in each recycling bag and box
- make sure everyone in your household understands the recycling system
- label your recycling containers inside
- check Recycle Now’s locator tool to find places to recycle materials we don’t collect from you like soft plastic film lids and batteries
What to do if your recycling doesn't all fit in your bags or box
- Extra cardboard: please flatten, tie it into a bundle and leave out with the rest of your recycling
- Extra plastics, cans and tins: please put them in a plastic carrier bag and leave with the rest of your recycling
- Extra paper: please put it in a plastic carrier bag and leave out with the rest of your recycling
- You can also take extra recycling to your local Household Waste and Recycling Centre

Order recycling bags and boxes
You can also collect them for free from one the locations listed here that stock them.
Please note if you live in a communal property you may have recycling bins, rather than bags boxes but the colour coding system is the same.
Reduce your rubbish
Most of us know recycling is a must if we’re going to stop the climate emergency.
But did you know that just as important as recycling is reducing how much waste you produce in the first place?
