Residents' survey

Why we conduct residents' surveys

Cornwall Council is committed to listening to residents and acting in their best interests. Regular resident surveys provide feedback on what is important to people.  They help us understand what residents think of their Council, the services it provides and its value for money.  This supports continuous improvement.

How we conduct the surveys

Each year a representative sample of Cornwall's population are interviewed.  Residents are interviewed by telephone and face to face.  The survey uses the Local Government Association ‘Are you being served?' method.  This allows comparison of results with other Councils.  Before January 2021 500 residents took part in each survey. In January 2021 and 2022 we surveyed 3,000 residents aged 18+ years.

Interpreting the results

We show the results of the survey as percentages of all the people that took part.  Results from previous surveys and national results from other councils are also given for comparison reasons.
