Welcome to Cornwall Legal and Governance Services

We cannot provide legal advice to members of the public or private sector bodies and will not respond  to messages received, whether they seek advice or to raise issues or concerns. If you are a member of the public or a private sector body and have an issue or concern you wish to raise please visit the Councils Feedback and Complaints webpage.

We are an experienced team providing high quality and value for money legal advice. We provide support to Cornwall Council and other public sector bodies. These include schools, local councils, and fire and rescue authorities.

You may be able to get advice from Citizens Advice Cornwall. They provide free, independent and confidential advice on a wide range of issues, including:

  • benefits
  • debt
  • employment
  • housing
  • discrimination and 
  • consumer problems

for everyone in the Duchy. They also have a number of specialist projects such as:

  • working with cancer patients and their families
  • helping young people with budgeting skills and energy efficiency

You can also appoint a solicitor or other lawyer to assist you. The Law Society has information on their website about finding and using a solicitor.
