Project Timeline for Deferred Parishes


A public consultation period on the deferred proposals closed on 29th April 2022. Please visit our Let's Talk Cornwall pages for more details on the proposals.

In November 2020, the Council deferred proposals that could not be completed before the May 2021 elections. The Constitution and Governance Committee agreed a project timeline for the deferred proposals. This timeline follows the stages in the Community Governance Review guidance: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/community-governance-reviews-guidance

When 

Pre-Stage 3 

Confirm with Parishes and Division Members the appetite to continue with or withdraw deferred proposals. 

August 2021 to October 2021   

Stage 3 

Re-publish deferred proposals and seek comments through public consultation.

26 January 2022 – 29 April 2022

Stage 4 

Constitution and Governance Committee considers contributions received to date on the deferred proposals including the outcome of the latest public consultation and formulates final recommendations. Consequential matters to be referred to Local Government Boundary Commission where required. 

May 2022 to January 2023

Final Decisions of Full Council

Full Council make final decisions on matters recommended to them. 

Extraordinary Full Council meeting to be held before 21 February 2023

Reorganisation Order made and implemented

Re-organisation Order made. Consequential changes made (align electoral divisions to parish boundaries etc.). All changes to come into force on 1 April with the exception of electoral changes which will come into force at the first full election after the Reorganisation Order is made. 

Post final decisions being made with a view to implementation in April and May 2025
