About the register
The full electoral register lists the names and addresses of everyone registered to vote at elections. You must be on the register to be able to vote.
The register is also used for other limited legal activities, such as:
- preventing or detecting crime (such as fraud)
- calling people for jury service
- checking credit applications

The application takes 5 minutes to complete. You will need your National Insurance number.

Historical registers
After a new register is published, the old register is not available for inspection for 10 years.
The Cornwall Council archive centre Kresen Kernow holds some historical electoral registers. Please check if they have the registers you want before making a visit.
The British Library also holds historical electoral registers.
